چکیده

In an attempt to disentangle the effects of nuclear geometry from those of expansion we study the dependence of the longitudinal radius (RL) on nuclear numbers of colliding ions within a simple model of multiple nucleonnucleon collisions. The model has built in the nuclear geometry but there is no dynamical expansion. In principle, what is significantly beyond models of this type can be considered as caused by collective expansion.Taking into account the present errors of data, oversimplified model and the absence of accurate information on RL for pp interactions it is difficult to make strong statements about collisions of induced by light ions. On the other hand Pb-Pb data give RL significantly higher than a geometrical picture could accomodate, presenting an evidence for the onset of collective expansion,or of onset of a new dynamical regime between O-Au and Pb-Pb collisions. The situation with S-Au and S-Pb collisions is less clear because of a rather large difference of data on RL in these two cases.

Rapidity dependence of HBT correlation radii in non-boost invariant models

Hanbury-Brown Twiss (HBT) correlation measurements provide valuable information about the phase space distribution of matter in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The rapidity dependence of HBT radii arises from a nontrivial interplay between longitudinal and transverse expansion and the time dependence of the freeze-out pattern. For a non-accelerating longitudinal expansion the dependence...

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Elliptic flow in heavy ion collisions near the balance energy

The proton elliptic flow in collisions of Ca on Ca at energies from 30 to 100 MeV/nucleon is studied in an isospin-dependent transport model. With increasing incident energy, the elliptic flow shows a transition from positive to negative flow. Its magnitude depends on both the nuclear equation of state (EOS) and the nucleon-nucleon scattering cross section. Different elliptic flows are obtained...

Calculation of total dose and dose equivalent distribution in the treatment of lung cancer using MR-guided carbon therapy

Nowadays, in order to improve the accuracy of treatment in radiation therapy, there are many attempts to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) due to the advantages of excellent soft tissue contrast and ultra-fast pulse sequences. On the other hand, carbon-ion radiation therapy is developing rapidly due to the benefits of greater relative biological effectiveness (RBE) and the application in the...

Early Thermalization at Rhic *

It is shown that recent RHIC data on hadron spectra and elliptic flow can be excellently reproduced within a hydrodynamic description of the collision dynamics, and that this provides strong evidence for rapid thermalization while the system is still in the quark-gluon plasma phase. But even though the hydrodynamic approach provides an impressive description of the single-particle momentum dist...
